We believe there should be equal opportunity among lawyers and equal access to information.
Today, legal AI tools and case-law programs are expensive, and a lawyer who is new to the profession cannot afford them. When access to information depends on the ability to pay, equal opportunity among lawyers is undermined.
The consequences of this inequality are not limited to the lawyer. Proceedings are conducted to bring the material truth to light. In our view, whether the truth can emerge correctly, quickly and constructively depends, first of all, on every lawyer having equal access to information.
This is why the resources and applications here are open access. The citation index, the decision summaries and the sample petitions are open to everyone on the site.
They are designed as starting tools for lawyers to customise their own AI; the aim is a closed system and zero data breaches. In line with this aim, the applications run on the lawyer's own computer and require no internet connection once installed. Documents and records are not sent anywhere.
The system we are trying to build is an ecosystem in which lawyers can connect these tools to their own AI as they wish. In this system, a document can be prepared by labelling names and personal data before it is given to an AI. Decisions can be searched on the lawyer's own computer, and that search can be connected to the same AI.
The applications contain nothing that bears on the lawyer's legal judgment. They do not make legal assessments. Such assessments are left to the lawyer.
